Launched in the highly competitive and cutting-edge compact SUV space (marketed as a mid-size SUV), MG Astor will have to fight hard to remain relevant. MG Motor India is doing just that by launching the 2024 MG Astor at a starting price of Rs. 9.98 lakh (ex-sh). It has new features, new variants and a higher price than ever before.
2024 MG Astor Launched In India
MG has listened to media and customer feedback and worked well with Astor to launch the update. There are no visual updates on the Astor and everything has been kept the same in terms of design. However, MG has strengthened its product to better fight its rivals with a more comprehensive list of features.
These additional features act as the missing piece of a very powerful puzzle that makes the Astor far more attractive and complete than its immediate rivals. Talking about Astor, its rivals are the upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hayrider, Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross.

The new trim levels of the 2024 MG Astor are – Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. Prices for the base Sprint trim with 1.5L NA petrol engine start at Rs. 9.98 lakh, which is directly lower than all its rivals including the Citroen C3 Aircross. Not just rivals, the 2024 Astor has also undercut itself which used to start at Rs. 10.82 lakh (ex-sh).
Additional features with the 2024 Astor include wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto-dimming IRVMs and the likes. Even the new base trim, the Sprint, comes equipped with LED headlights, DRL, exterior chrome elements, dual-tone interior theme, soft-touch plastics on the inside, leather-wrapped steering, 10.1-inch infotainment screen, auto AC and more. Feature upgrades Ventilated seats and auto-dimming IRVMs are only offered with the Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro trims, while wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof and i-Smart 2.0 connected technology are offered from the Select trim. Facility Upgrade
Ventilated seats and auto-dimming IRVMs are offered only with the Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro trims, while wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof and i-Smart 2.0 connected technology are offered from the Select trim onwards. As far as powertrain is concerned, the 2024 MG Astor will continue to get the same 1.5L NA petrol and 1.3L turbo petrol engine options. The first is capable of delivering 110 PS of maximum power and 144 Nm of peak torque with a 5-speed MT or CVT. The latter is capable of generating 140 PS of peak power and 220 Nm of peak torque, mated to a sole 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Color options include Dual Tone White and Black, Havana Grey, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White and Starry Black. Interior trim color options include dual tone Iconic Ivory, Tuxedo Black and dual tone Sangria Red.
