2027 Honda Rebel 500 Revealed: E-Clutch, TFT Display & New Features

Quick Highlights & Key Specs

Verified Spec Sheet
Engine / Battery 471cc parallel-twin
Max Power 46.2 hp at 8,500 rpm

Honda has revealed the 2027 Honda Rebel 500 with two important upgrades: a new 3.5-inch circular TFT instrument display and the company’s E-Clutch technology. The updated middleweight cruiser retains its familiar low-slung bobber styling and 471cc parallel-twin engine, while gaining equipment designed to make everyday riding more convenient.

The update is particularly relevant for India because Honda had already showcased the India-spec Rebel 500 with a TFT display and E-Clutch technology as part of its new motorcycle lineup in July 2026. The latest global reveal brings these upgrades to the international model as well.

The new Rebel 500 is expected to arrive in India in early 2027. Here is everything you need to know about its engine, E-Clutch system, display, design, features and expected price.

2027 Honda Rebel 500: What’s New?

The biggest changes to the 2027 Honda Rebel 500 are focused on technology rather than design.

The earlier negative LCD instrument cluster has been replaced by a new 3.5-inch circular full-colour TFT display. The updated screen gives riders a more modern interface and supports additional information and navigation-related functions.

Honda has also revised the left-side handlebar switchgear, adding two buttons to make it easier to operate the new display.

The motorcycle continues with its familiar bobber-inspired design, featuring a round headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, exposed frame, low seat and blacked-out mechanical components.

In other words, Honda has retained the Rebel’s distinctive identity while improving its cockpit and rider convenience.

Honda E-Clutch: The Biggest Upgrade

The most significant addition to the 2027 Rebel 500 is Honda’s E-Clutch technology.

The system electronically controls clutch operation, allowing riders to start, stop and change gears without manually operating the clutch lever. This can make riding in heavy traffic considerably easier, particularly when frequent gear changes are required.

However, the system does not turn the Rebel 500 into an automatic motorcycle. Riders still use the conventional gear lever to change gears, while the E-Clutch manages clutch engagement.

The traditional clutch lever also remains available, so riders can operate the clutch manually whenever they prefer.

This combination of a conventional six-speed gearbox and electronically controlled clutch operation gives riders the convenience of reduced clutch effort without removing the familiar manual riding experience.

For a low-slung cruiser such as the Rebel 500, this could be a useful upgrade for city commutes as well as relaxed weekend rides.

3.5-Inch Circular TFT Display With Updated Controls

The new circular TFT display replaces the previous LCD unit and gives the Rebel 500 a more contemporary cockpit.

The screen is designed to provide clearer riding information and support additional display functions. The revised switchgear makes navigating the new interface easier.

The 2027 global model’s TFT upgrade follows the display already shown on the India-spec Rebel 500 earlier this year.

Honda has not announced a major electronics overhaul beyond these changes. Buyers should not assume that the updated Rebel 500 gets riding modes or traction control, as these features are not listed among the confirmed upgrades.

Engine and Performance: 471cc Parallel-Twin Continues

Honda has retained the existing 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine for the 2027 Rebel 500.

The engine produces:

  • Engine: 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin
  • Maximum power: 46.2 hp at 8,500 rpm
  • Peak torque: 43.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm
  • Transmission: 6-speed gearbox

There are no major announced changes to the engine or its performance figures for the 2027 model year.

The parallel-twin engine is known for its smooth power delivery and flexible performance, making it suitable for relaxed cruising and highway riding. The six-speed gearbox continues to handle transmission duties, while the new E-Clutch system reduces the need for manual clutch operation.

It is worth noting that the E-Clutch is a change in how the motorcycle is operated, not an increase in engine power.

Design and Colours: Familiar Bobber Styling Continues

Honda has retained the Rebel 500’s familiar minimalist cruiser design for 2027.

The motorcycle continues to feature a round LED headlamp, muscular teardrop-shaped fuel tank, low-slung seat, wide handlebar and short rear section.

For the 2027 model year, Honda has introduced new colour options.

The standard Rebel 500 gets Matte Fresco Brown alongside the existing Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. The European Plus or S-style version adds premium cosmetic equipment, including a headlight cowl, fork covers, fork gaiters, a brown diamond-stitched seat and bronze-finished wheels. It also receives a Candy Rosy Red colour option.

Availability of these colours and special-edition equipment in India has not yet been confirmed.

2027 Honda Rebel 500 India Launch Date

Honda showcased the Rebel 500 for the Indian market in July 2026 as part of its 10-motorcycle product lineup.

The India-spec motorcycle was already shown with the new TFT display and E-Clutch technology. According to Autocar India’s August 2026 report, the launch is targeted for January–February 2027.

Honda has not yet announced a final India launch date or opened official bookings for the Rebel 500.

The motorcycle is expected to be sold through Honda’s premium BigWing dealership network.

Expected Honda Rebel 500 Price in India

The final Indian price of the 2027 Rebel 500 has not been announced.

Autocar India previously estimated a price of around ₹4.7 lakh, while another industry report suggested a wider ₹6–7 lakh range. These are media estimates, not official prices, and the difference reflects uncertainty around localisation and variant positioning.

Honda has indicated that the India-bound Rebel 500 will have a significant level of local sourcing, with around 50% of parts expected to be localised initially. The engine was expected to remain imported at the time of the announcement.

The final price will depend on the extent of localisation, the E-Clutch premium and the variant lineup.

Should You Wait for the 2027 Honda Rebel 500?

The 2027 update makes the Rebel 500 more appealing without changing its familiar cruiser character. The new TFT display improves the cockpit, while E-Clutch technology could make the motorcycle easier to use in stop-and-go traffic.

The 471cc parallel-twin engine remains unchanged, so buyers should not expect a major performance increase over the previous model.

For Indian enthusiasts, the bigger attraction will be its expected local-market pricing and the availability of the E-Clutch version. If Honda manages to position it competitively, the Rebel 500 could become an interesting option for riders looking for a premium middleweight cruiser with modern clutch technology.
